Snowy - a backgammon virtual source

The game of backgammon is designed to be played by a mix of players from the beginner through to the professional, it is not just experience that wins games sometimes you need a little professional assistance, which these days can be readily obtained through the web, in the form of a computer program.

One of the most popular of these services is a program called Snowie, now in its fourth incantation Snowie is your virtual computer player, it is said to be better than the most skilled real life players and is practically unbeatable in a one to one challenge. But Snowie is not talking of world domination here, what Snowie purports to do is to teach you how to play better and faster moves online.

Two backgammon servers demonstrate Snowie on line they are Netgammon and Playmaker World. Snowie is not a computer to play against and with certain sites it can only work in tandem with your moves: i.e.: it works alongside your board. It cannot be combined inside your software; it is also a program that is not free. Therefore only the serious players should consider Snowie as an option to their game.

Give me my ball back! -  11.12.2006

What happens when somebody takes your ball away and stops you playing? Well you do one of two things either you fight to get it back, or you get a new ball. Real backgammon versus online -  17.11.2006

There's a real buzz on the backgammon circuits as the game goes from strength to strength. Much of that 'buzzing' is down to the fact that big money is being won at the 'Big Money' tournaments and like the proverbial rolling stone is gathering players at a rapid momentum increasing by the day.

Backgammon online: Some of my favorite things -  12.11.2006

Here are some things to look for when playing online backgammon. First of all reliability, the site you choose to pay at should be one that can be easily found in references to backgammon. There are many sources including the search engines and the higher the rankings on the page the better the probability is that the site is (a) genuine and (b) secure. It is also likely to be a site that caters for multi-players and as such will have facilities included such as a backgammon school, a chat section and a choice between fun or money play.
